Visualization of GIS-Based Glacial Data
Summary
Evaluation and development of design studies and methods for an efficient or optimal 2D and 3D visualization of GIS based glacial data (geometric contours, attributes) on DTM and other thematic data sets (geology, vegetation, climatic and weather) for maps, web applications and perspective views (3D-maps) in a high cartographic quality.
These design studies could lead to a thematic module of an integrative atlas system (e.g. ”Atlas of Switzerland - Interactive”). It should be used interactively for creating views of different glacier stages and other dynamic glacial processes. With this module, glaciologists and other user groups could be able to generate perspective views of DTM sections for analysing and measuring of glacier bodies (Swiss Alps).
