OCAD Thematic Mapper – Generic Thematic Map Generation with Wizards
Summary
The main idea of this project is the development of a software in which the user will have the opportunity to create thematic maps through a guided procedure in form of Wizards, based on cartographic principles of thematic cartography. In OCAD Thematic Mapper Wizard, the special characteristics of the data will be defined by the user at the beginning of the procedure and according to them, the software will activate the suitable visualization methods for the specific data (e.g. proportional symbols, charts, choropleths etc.). In this way, the user is directed by the software to select an appropriate method avoiding mistakes during the map’s construction. This software will be part of the OCAD cartographic software, developed mainly for construction of topographic maps, offering now, also the opportunity to its clients and to new users as well, to create correct thematic maps through it.
